My name is Laura (derby name: Lilith NoFair), I live in Guelph, Ontario, and I’m a personal trainer, kettlebell specialist, and roller derby skater.
I’m not your typical trainer – I didn’t play sports growing up, didn’t spend my formative years in the gym. I went to Theatre School, for goodness sake. I was that girl who could sit in front of the TV for hours eating jujubes. Who thought a box of KD with hot-dogs was a reasonably balanced meal. Who had a pretty crummy relationship with her body, and her eating habits.
Somewhere along the way, I started playing roller derby.
I came to fitness through roller derby. I wanted to make myself a better skater, and in the process, I fell in love with what my body can do. I saw the injuries and the need for conditioning and prevention. Training on-skates skills to skaters made it clear to me that this is what I want to do – teach people how to use their bodies better. I saw so many girls in leagues all across Canada and in the US with the same injuries, with the same struggles, and I decided to learn how to help.
I’m a University of Guelph certified Personal Trainer, an StrongFirst Level 2 Kettlebell instructor, a Strongfirst Barbell instructor, a StrongFirst Bodyweight instructor, a Precision Nutrition Coach, and have my Functional Movement Systems Level 1 certification.
I want to help you find what you love about fitness, and what you love about yourself. I want you to accomplish things you thought were impossible. I want to show you how just awesome you can be.
